SERIE 140-ME100/05
Mirror Ink, solvent based
Series 140-ME100/05, a solvent based mirror ink, is to be printed on the reverse surface （back side） of high
glossy transparent films like PET, PC, PMMA and others. After drying a mirror-like effect is achieved. To allow
perfect orientation of the metallic particles, the drying process has to be checked individually as too slow or too
fast drying is influencing this.
Onto suited substrates the ink shows quite good abrasion and scratch resistance, even without protection
coating, which is however recommended.
Printed onto first surface （front side） of dark substrates a chrome-like metallic effect is obtained, but no mirror.
To increase tape test resistance an addition of 2-3% Hardener Series 140-ME20001/GL should be made.
The ink is press ready; if lower viscosity is required it can be diluted with Thinner Series 10-03428.
Protection inks:
As protection coatings and to increase opacity, we supply as mild inks
Overlay White 140-00/ME and
Overlay Black 140-33/ME, which are not attacking the mirror effect.
We recommend that these overlay inks are mixed with 10% Hardener Series 600-HDA, or
5% Hardener Series600-GL –the latter is offering longer pot life.
Thinning is to be done only with Thinner Series 140-017/ME, which is a composition of very mild solvents thus
preventing the mirror ink layer to be attacked and “blinded”.
Overlay inks printed accordingly are fulfilling the requirements of adhesion tests by means of scotch tape or
cross hatch （GT 0）.

Squeegee : NEW 70 Shore A, only to be used for mirror ink
Drying : forced air drying at 40°Cels.
Exposure : Only indoor use/ Outdoor use has to be checked very carefully
Hints and tips : avoid impurities like silicone or fingerprints
